I am a Registered Investment Advisor, registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Texas State Securities Board. I am also a Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation awarded by the American College. I have a specialized area of knowledge in designing qualified retirement plans. I have also specialized in corporate and non-corporate business structures for maximum tax advantage, estate planning, and asset protection.
Most of my clients are individuals, professionals, corporations, university professors, and qualified retirement plans. I give advice on (but not necessarily recommend) most types of securities ranging from government bonds, mutual funds, stocks, municipal bonds, unit investment trusts, etc.
Managed accounts are checked and all positions reviewed daily. Clients are given monthly or quarterly statements by Sawtelle Financial Management. Meetings are held quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, depending on the arrangement with the client.
The minimum account that we manage for 403(b) accounts is $100,000 and for individual investment (non 403b) accounts is $250,000. However, I will accept smaller accounts at my own discretion.
When I manage client accounts on a discretionary basis, I limit the discretionary authority by prohibiting myself from having the right or power to withdraw any money/funds/securities from client accounts. I custody no client assets. In addition, trading in the accounts will be limited to general securities, mutual funds, and government securities. Finally, for managed accounts, we use Fidelity Investments or Ameritrade for stock accounts. I receive no remuneration or compensation, either “hard” or “soft” from either firm.
My main sources are Investors Business Daily, No-Load FUND X, ALL STAR Fund Trader, Grant's Interest Rate Observer, research materials prepared by others, corporate rating services, annual reports and form 10K, many books, and investment and educational seminars that I pay to attend.
